A security mechanism for an application level protocol used to publish and edit web resources is extended to enable enforcement of a security policy on feed entries. The security mechanism ensures that only a certain class of privileged users can perform create, read, update and/or delete (CRUD) actions on feed entries, and it provides a uniform methodology for determining security access controls for resources. The techniques described herein enable selectively display of feed entries while at the same time maintaining a single document source for the privileged users.

A Fragment Context Preserver has two components, a Fragmented Request Preserver and a Request Context Helper. The Fragmented Request Preserver program runs on a surrogate attached to a client computer and distributed computer environment, and a Request Context Helper runs on each application server on the distributed computer environment. Working together, these two programs ensure that independently dispatched fragments of a request execute with the required context.

The present invention discloses a solution for handling HTTP requests for content produced asynchronously by multiple servers, where a requesting client aggregates content. In the solution, a client can issue a content request to a request receiving server. The content request can define a request context. The request receiving server can deliver initial content including placeholders to the client, can issue asynchronous requests to multiple placeholder content servers, and can thereafter terminate threads/processes and can free resources involved in handling the request context. Each of the placeholder content servers can process one of the asynchronous requests and can convey placeholder content results to a result distribution service. The result distribution service can provide the client with the placeholder content. The client can aggregate the content from all sources.
