摘要: A method includes determining, in response to focus being set on a link referencing a resource, one or more properties of the resource referenced by the link. Data is selected corresponding to one or more of a plurality of tactile feedback patterns based on the properties. Tactile feedback is enabled corresponding to the one or more tactile feedback patterns based at least in part on the data. An electronic device includes memories having a set of instructions and processors coupled to the memories. The processors are configured by the instructions to determine, in response to focus being set on a link referencing a resource, properties of the resource referenced by the link, to select data corresponding to one or more tactile feedback patterns based on the properties, and to enable tactile feedback corresponding to the one or more tactile feedback patterns.

摘要: A method for performing discontinuous transmission in an asynchronous transfer mode is described, wherein a downlink transmission of an ATM cell is performed each time a predetermined number of signal frames indicating a speechless period has been supplied, and wherein an uplink transmission of an ATM cell is only performed when a signal frame indicating a useful information has been supplied. In the downlink transmission, an idle frame can be generated at the receiving end, when no ATM cell is received. In the uplink transmission, a signal frame indicating a useless information can be generated, when no ATM cell is received. Thereby, only those signal frames required at the receiving end are transmitted. Moreover, known transmission functions and elements of a synchronous transmission system can be used at the respective ends of transmission.

摘要: A portable electronic device, such as a pager or a mobile station, has a housing and a vibration motor coupled to the housing for imparting vibration to it. Within the device, an electronic audio signal is preferably split into high and low frequency components by parallel filters. Pulses of the low frequency component are rectified, voltages of those rectified pulses are quantified and at least some are converted to pulse widths, and the train of pulse widths is amplified to drive the vibration motor, resonating the housing at in correspondence with the pulse amplitudes of at least some pulses of the original electronic audio signal. Various adaptive schemes are presented to control the number of modulated pulses that drive the vibration motor to enhance the user experience. The vibration motor may act as an audible sub-woofer and/or may provide a bass effect vibration within or beyond the audible range in correspondence to certain spaced pulses of the original audio signal.

摘要: A mobile phone or telecommunications terminal that sends and receives tactile icons (tactile sensation patterns, including vibration patterns) discernible by feel to a user of the mobile phone or terminal, indicative of a message desired to be communicated between users of such a mobile phone or terminal (not information concerning the operation of the mobile phone or terminal). The mobile phone or terminal includes a source of tactile sensations (such as a vibratory device) that produces a tactile sensation in response to control signals issued by a controller when a message including a tactile icon is received; the control signals are based on instructions included in the mobile phone or terminal on how to interpret a tactile sensation pattern. The source of tactile sensations is for example an eccentric electric motor, a source of puffs of air, an electric signal, a razor-type linear vibrator, a solenoid, or a piezoelectric material.

摘要: Clock generating method and apparatus for an asynchronous transmission, wherein a plurality of actual receiving signal arrival times are detected and averaged, to thereby avoid influences of randomly distributed delay variations upon signal transmission. Clock synchronization between a transmitting clock and a receiving clock is recovered by correcting the receiving clock on the basis of the obtained average of the actual arrival times and an expected arrival time. Thereby, overflow and underflow of a receiver buffer can be prevented.

摘要: Sample packets (S1-Sn) are formed from an input signal (1), there being a sample period (P1-Pn) related to each sample packet. The sample packets are inserted into a packet network (4) and transmitted to a recipient. The information content of the input signal per time unit (BR) is monitored and the information content of each sample packet (S1-Sn) is kept substantially constant on the basis of this information by controlling the duration of the sample period (P1-Pn) of the sample packets. Information on the duration of the sample period (P1-Pn) is transmitted to the recipient in the packet network packet. The packets (4) are received in the receiver and sample packets (S1-Sn) are separated from them and supplied to a decoder (7). Information on the duration of the sample period (P1-Pn) is also separated and supplied to the decoder (7), which uses it as the playing time of the restored output signal (8).
