    摘要: An apparatus for working both ends of a workpiece at a time. The workpiece, typically in the form of a bar or a tube, is successively shaped by pre-shaping die means, shaping die means and finish-shaping die means, each of which comprises a pair of dies for simultaneously working both ends of the workpiece to a predetermined configuration. The dies in each pair are movable toward and away from the both ends of the workpiece, respectively, in accordance with the operation of a pair of hydraulic devices. A pair of knockout rods respectively slidably received in cylinders of the hydraulic devices cooperate to support the workpiece while the latter is progressively shaped. One of the knockout rods is fixed to one of the dies while the other knockout rod is held afloat relative to the other die by a hydraulic device, so that the workpiece is allowed to stretch to a full available length only at one end thereof on the afloat knockout rod side.

Thus, this invention simplifies the structure and circuits to provide a compact directional change-over valve device as a whole.

    摘要: An ironing punch for ironing the socket of a ball-and-socket joint has a punch body with a plurality of circumferentially spaced ridges disposed on an outer circumferential surface thereof and extending from a distal end surface. The ironing punch also includes a plurality of ridge-shaped dies fitted respectively in recesses defined between the ridges on the punch body. Each of the ridges is ground by a single grinding wheel with the ridge-shaped dies removed from the punch body, and each of the ridge-shaped dies is also ground by a single grinding wheel. The punch body has relief grooves for preventing the grinding wheel from physical interference with junctions between the recesses and the distal end surface.

    摘要: A cup-shaped raw workpiece having a bottom panel and a cylindrically-shaped circumferential panel is positioned facing downwardly on a movable lower punch having a forming gear profile. The lower punch is provided in a die having an orifice portion which together with the gear profile defines an orifice. A resilient mechanism resists downward movement of the lower punch. An upper punch is lowered to hold the bottom panel of the workpiece against the lower punch and pushes the workpiece to extrusion form the inner surface thereof through the orifice. An escape groove for excess metal can be provided in the bottom inside corner of the workpiece at the juncture of the circumferential panel and the bottom panel. The lower punch can be provided with an upwardly extending protrusion near the outer circumferential edge of the upper end surface thereof which has an outer chamfered circumferential edge.

    摘要: An electrical upsetting method for upsetting a cylindrical metal material, which is durable against wear and tear due to high temperature as well as vigorous friction under heavy pressure during the upsetting work, wherein a space gap is provided between the outer peripheral surface of the workpiece and the inner peripheral surface of the shaping die to prevent the die from direct heat from the workpiece generated by electric conduction across the electrodes, or wherein a space gap is provided between the outer peripheral surface of the anvil electrode and the inner peripheral surface of the shaping die, and an inert gas is filled in the space gap to protect the die from oxidation due to its exposure to the external atmosphere, or air, as well as to maintain the die in a cooled condition by the inert gas.The present invention also proposes an improved electrical upsetting device provided with the inert gas feeding device which supplies such inert gas through the communicating grooves into the space gap defined between the anvil electrode and the shaping die to prevent the die from wear and tear due to its oxidation through exposure to the external atmosphere, thereby securing long service life of the shaping die.

The gear can be manufactured highly accurately with a good yield without requiring other intermediate processes such as normalizing and shot blasting.
