Abstract:
An electronic device comprising a controller having an integrated circuit operable in at least a first and second mode, and a dial having a window through which at least one indicator is visible, wherein the electronic device comprises a mode indicator positioned on an actuation mechanism side of the dial, wherein the mode indicator has at least a first indicator and a second indicator each respectively representative of one of the at least two modes within which the electronic device is operable; a gearing assembly comprising one or more wheels, being meshingly coupled to the mode indicator so that the rotation of the one or more wheels causes the rotation of the mode indicator; an actuation mechanism, rotateably coupled to the at least one or more wheels of the gearing assembly, wherein the rotation of the actuation mechanism causes the rotation of the mode indicator; wherein the integrated circuit controls the actuation of the actuation mechanism so as to initiate the rotation of the mode indicator; and actuation means, operatively coupled to the controller, for selecting the mode within which the integrated circuit is operable, wherein the mode within which the integrated circuit is operating is visible through the window in the dial; wherein the mode in which the integrated circuit is operating is indicated by the indicator visible in the window.
Abstract:
A wearable electronic device comprising a rotateable member for indicating the day of the week, wherein each day of the week is displayable with an AM indicator and a PM indicator, an actuation mechanism, operatively coupled to the rotateable member, for rotating the rotateable member in at least one of the clockwise and counterclockwise direction; and a controller, operatively coupled to the actuation mechanism, for causing the rotation of the rotateable member after at least essentially 12 hours so as to shift between indicating a day indicator with the AM indicator and (ii) the day indicator with the PM indicator. The rotateable member can be a day ring, merely an elongated member or a display hand. After essentially 12 hours the rotateable member again rotates so as to shift between displaying in the window (i) the day indicator with the PM indicator and (ii) a successive day indicator with the AM indicator. In a preferred embodiment, the wearable electronic device is a watch.
Abstract:
A bi-directional stepping motor in which a rotor is rotatable in steps of 180 degrees each, the stepping motor comprising a rotor comprising a permanent magnet and rotatably mounted about an axis and providing a permanent magnetic field; a first electrical coil and a second electrical coil; a stator on which the first electrical coil is mounted; and a control circuit, coupled to the first and second electrical coils, for applying electrical pulses independently to each coil and for controlling the polarity thereof, the coils producing magnetic fields in response to the pulses and wherein the rotor is rotatable in response to the magnetic fields; wherein each step of 180 degrees is effectuated by providing to the first coil, a first pulse of a first polarity and a second pulse of a second polarity; and to said second coil, a pulse of the second polarity simultaneously with the providing of the second pulse to the first coil; wherein during the providing of the first pulse to the first coil, there is no pulse being provided to the second coil.
