    摘要: A vessel transfer system utilizes a larger, surface effect vessel with a hull and a cargo deck, having a pressurized volume of air under its hull. The larger vessel cargo deck is lowered relative to a water surface in order to receive a smaller vessel. Lowering is achieved by depressurizing the volume of pressurized air under the hull. Movable propulsors on an air cushion vehicle permit efficient operation under way in an outer position, while minimizing the envelope dimensions for stowage in a well deck, providing clearance from bridges, docks, etc. in an inner position. In the outer position, the propellers operate in more uniform inflow conditions, resulting in improved performance and lower noise levels. In addition, the craft can be arranged to use a full width stern ramp resulting in time saved during cargo loading/unloading. The propellers will be less likely to ingest green water in high sea states.

    摘要: An apparatus and associated method for preparing a saline solution, lavaging, and postural draining. The apparatus having a container with flexible side walls and fitted with a removable dispensing cap. Markings are provided on the container for indicating when the desired quantity of saline solution has been prepared. The dispensing cap is specifically configured with a dispensing tip for sealing against a nostril. The tip is in fluid connection with a tube that is connected to the interior portion of the dispensing cap and extends into the container. The tube acts to draw the saline solution from the base of the container and out throughout the dispensing tip when the side walls of the container are compressed. A cover with an integral measuring device is removably fitted over and seals the cap. A typical procedure involves using the cover to measure salt and transfer it into the container. Water is then added to the level of the markings. Following this, the dispensing cap and cover are then attached to the container and the solution is mixed. Then, to begin lavaging, the cover is removed, the tip fitted against a nostril, and the side walls of the container are compressed. After lavaging, clearing and draining of the nasal cavity is commenced.

    摘要: Wrapped-cone fingers for use in an air-cushion vehicle (ACV) skirt system are described. Wrapped-cone fingers may include an inner cone that is “wrapped” or generally enclosed by an outer finger. The inner cone may include an inner cone opening through which air may travel. The outer cone may include a back face opening. When inflated, the inner cone blocks the back face opening in the outer finger, allowing for increased air pressure in the outer finger and thus inflating the inner cone and outer finger of the wrapped-cone finger. Wrapped-cone fingers according to the present invention may be lightweight, inexpensive and resistant to scooping and snagging. Embodiments are also directed to ACV skirt systems and methods of manufacturing wrapped-cone fingers for use with an ACV skirt system.

    摘要: A vessel designed to operate efficiently as both a catamaran and air cushion vessel can travel at low speed in a catamaran or displacement mode, high speed in an air cushion mode, and amphibiously with the aid of deployable side seals. The vessel includes catamaran hulls and flexible air cushion bow and stern seal systems together with retractable side seals having hinged doors containing inflatable, retractable flexible components. The doors form part of the side seal system in the deployed position, and protect the flexible components of the seal in the retracted position. The arrangement reduces the drag associated with the side seals while the vessel operates in its catamaran or surface effect ship modes, and prevents damage to the seals during operation in the high speeds SES mode.
