摘要: Methods and systems for determining bulk density and/or neutron porosity of a formation are described herein. The methods and systems use a pulsed neutron (PN) tool and may be performed with a tool having a single gamma detector though tools with multiple detectors may be used as well. The PN tool may be a geochemical logging tool. The methods and systems involve partitioning the time spectrum into pluralities of bins that are indicative of non-clay mineral elements and of shale/clay to the overall bulk density.

摘要: A method can include determining that measured outputs of first and second sensors are correlated, calculating a second sensor output based on the measured first sensor output, and in response to a loss of the measured second sensor output or a failure of an item of equipment, controlling a drilling operation based on the calculated second sensor output. A control system can include a statistical model that determines a correlation between measured outputs of first and second sensors, and calculates a calculated second sensor output based on the measured first sensor output, a controller that controls the drilling operation, and a hydraulics model that determines how the drilling operation should be controlled to achieve a desired objective, and determines, based on the calculated second sensor output, how the drilling operation should be controlled, in response to a loss of the measured second sensor output or an equipment failure.

摘要: Methods, tools, and systems for determining CO2 saturation in a porous formation using pulsed neutron logging are described. Embodiments of a pulsed neutron logging tool feature a pulsed neutron generator configured to emit pulsed neutrons into the formation and at least two detectors configured to receive emitted photons. The first detector is located closer to the neutron generator than the second detector. Embodiments of the method involve determining first detector formation capture counts indicative of neutron capture photons originating from the formation and detected at the first detector, determining second detector borehole capture counts indicative of neutron capture photons originating from the borehole and detected at the second detector, using the first detector formation capture counts and the second detector borehole capture counts to estimate the saturation of CO2 in the formation.

摘要: A downhole tool, such as a bridge plug, has a carrier disposed on the tool between the opposing cones. Slips are disposed adjacent to the tool between the carrier and the cones. One arrangement has a proximal end of each slip connected by a linkage configured to articulate the proximal end relative to the carrier, while a distal end of each slip is configured to engage the cone opposed thereto. The linkage can be a linkage hingedly connected between the slip's proximal end and the carrier. Alternatively, the linkage can be a leaf spring flexibly connected between the slip's proximal end and the carrier. Another arrangement has linkages hingedly connected to the carrier and hingedly connected toward opposing ends of each slip. The linkages articulate the slip relative to the carrier while the ends of the slip engage the opposing cones.

摘要: A tubular gripping assembly for handling a tubular includes a housing; a plurality of gripping members for gripping the tubular; a first fluid line for opening the gripping members, the first fluid line having a one-way valve; and second fluid line for closing the gripping members. The tubular gripping assembly also includes an indicator assembly attached to the housing. The indicator assembly has an indicator movable relative to the housing. The indicator assembly also includes a sensor valve configured to open the check valve for fluid communication through the first fluid line in response to relative axial movement between the indicator and the housing.
