摘要: A system including a spinner assembly that includes a spinner subassembly which includes a spinner configured to engage a tubular, and a drive gear coupled to the spinner, with the drive gear configured to drive rotation of the spinner, and the encoder configured to count teeth of the drive gear as the drive gear rotates. A controller configured to determine a number of revolutions of a tubular that are needed to thread the tubular to a tubular string based on data from the encoder. The controller is also configured to determine when the tubular is unthreaded from the tubular string based on data from the encoder.

摘要: A power tong assembly includes a power tong and a speed limiting system operably coupled to the power tong. The power tong is configured to grip and rotate a tubular segment in a first direction to make-up a threaded connection with the tubular segment and in a second direction to break-out the threaded connection with the tubular segment. The speed limiting system is configured to selectively allow the power tong to rotate the tubular segment in one of the first direction and the second direction at a maximum speed while limiting the power tong to rotate the tubular segment in the other of the first direction and the second direction below the maximum speed.

摘要: The systems, devices, and methods described herein relate to a modular gripperhead system for a drilling rig. The system includes a gripper having a first gripper arm and a second opposing gripper arm, each gripper arm having an inwardly facing gripping surface that forms at least a portion of a chamber sized to receive a portion of a cylindrical tubular, wherein the portion of the chamber has a longitudinal axis. The system also includes a grabber having a first grabber arm and a second grabber arm. Each grabber arm may be displaceable between a retracted position and an extended position in a direction along a first axis that is transverse to the longitudinal axis. The first and second grabber arms may be pivotable about a first and second pivot point between an open position sized to permit a portion of a cylindrical tubular to enter between the first and the second grabber arms and a closed position sized to secure a portion of a cylindrical tubular between the first and the second grabber arms.

A housing of the gripping device is configured to extend over and at least partially around a distal end of the pipe element. Torsional clamp devices are configured to engage an outer circumferential surface of the pipe element with frictional engagement features that extend radially inward from the housing. A sealing mechanism is configured to shift a pipe seal relative to the housing and into engagement with the distal end of the pipe element and to facilitate fluid flow through the gripping device into the pipe element.

摘要: A spinner roller set adapted for use in an apparatus used to connect and disconnect threaded drilling tubulars includes a first and a second modular spinner roller that mounts independent drive and spacer discs on a central shaft. The setup is arranged so that the spinner rollers when in use can engage a small diameter tubular using the same setup as that for engaging a much larger diameter tubular. When a drive disc is in need of replacement, the worn drive disc can be removed from the central shaft and replaced with a new drive disc. The other drive discs and spacers can be reused.
