    摘要: An end cap includes a body portion having an outer engagement portion for engaging an outer ring of a bearing, the bearing having an outer ring and an inner bearing structure disposed within the outer ring. The outer engagement portion is substantially annular about a central axis. The body member also has a central engagement portion for engaging the inner bearing structure. At least one of the outer engagement portion and central engagement portion is configured to mechanically couple the end cap to the bearing.The bearing may have a seating portion on of the outer ring on the inner bearing member for mechanically coupling with the end cap. In a shaft and bearing assembly, there may be a seating portion on the inner bearing member or on the outer ring. The end cap body portion extends from the seating portion across the annular cavity to sealingly engage the shaft, the inner ring or the outer ring.

    摘要: An extended life ball transfer unit has a housing with a well of generally cup-shaped configuration with at least the lower portion of its surface being defined by a pair of radii mutually offset to opposite sides from its vertical axis to generate a gothic church arch cross section. A passage extends therethrough at the base of the housing well. Sealed in the well is a spherical conveyor ball having a radius of smaller length than the radii defining the lower surface of the well, and the well defining radii having their origins above the center of the conveyor ball. A multiplicity of spherical bearing balls is disposed between the conveyor ball and at least the lower portion of the well. The bearing balls support the conveyor ball and transferring the load from the conveyor ball to the housing over an annular area defined by an arc of about 5-15° with its center spaced about 30°-40° upwardly from the passage. A annular cap is seated in the upper portion of the well and has an inner surface portion bearing against the surface of the conveyor ball to provide a sealing action limiting debris from passing into the lower portion of the well.

In a bearing having a pin and a ring that is rotatable about an outer surface of the pin, the pin has a spherical convex surface that extends around an outer surface of the pin, and the ring has a corresponding spherical concave surface that extends around an inner surface of the ring. In a method for articulably mounting an axle to a vehicle, a ring having a spherical concave surface is assembled around a hinge pin having a spherical convex surface such that the spherical concave surface and the spherical convex surface engage. A split housing is assembled around the outer surfaces of the ring.
