摘要: The present invention provides for an apparatus and method for retaining a circuit board in a computer system. Some embodiments include single or multiple panels hinged to a chassis of the computer that are used as retaining structures. In operation, the retaining structures may be hinged down onto a circuit board cap that is in turn coupled to a central processing unit package that includes a circuit board. In this manner, the central processing unit or another component including a circuit board may be retained in a computer system.

摘要: A bracket is provided for mounting daughter cards to a computer motherboard. The bracket is connectable to the chassis of the computer and has support slots that cooperate with connectors on the motherboard to secure the daughter cards. The bracket supports a fan for cooling the daughter cards. The fan gathers the cooling air from a plenum incorporated in the bracket. A grill incorporated in the bracket directs the cooling air over the daughter cards.

摘要: Techniques for communicating lighting commands through a controller area network (CAN) bus of a light bar system include generating a light code message. The light code message has a metadata portion and a value portion. The metadata portion defines a purpose of value portion. The value portion controls a state of a lighting device (e.g., a keypad's LED brightness or activation of a directional light module) in the light bar system. A data field is generated by encapsulating the light code message with an ISO-TP single frame header and a message subtype. A CAN controller generates a CAN message having an extended frame format and the data field. The CAN message is then transmitted through the CAN bus.
