摘要: The invention provides a nail polish device for applying or removing nail polish. The nail polish device comprises a liquid delivering material for delivering a liquid nail polish or liquid nail polish removing composition; a main body structure substantially enclosing the liquid delivering material with an opening for receiving the fingers or toes of the user during use; and a vapor inhibiting material disposed on the main body structure, along the surface proximal to the liquid delivering material. The vapor inhibiting material is effective in inhibiting vapors and/or excess liquids from the liquid nail polish or removing composition by either absorbing same and/or neutralizing same.

摘要: A method for mobile underwater acoustic communications includes double differentially (DD) encoding a communication signal to produce a DD-encoded communication signal, applying direct sequence spread spectrum (SS) to the DD-encoded signal to produce a DD-SS communication output signal, and transmitting the DD-SS communication output signal. The method i) increases the SNR via processing gain, ii) eliminates the ISI through multipath suppression, and iii) enables bandwidth efficiency improvement via data multiplexing. The method is shown capable of facilitating simple receiver processing and offering performance robustness against unpredictable channel fluctuations.

For example, one disclosed embodiment provides a display system, comprising an LCD device and a display backlight configured to illuminate the LCD device by directing visible light toward an interior surface of the LCD device. The display system further comprises a wavelength-selective reflector disposed between the display backlight and the LCD device and having a smooth surface facing the interior surface of the LCD device, where the wavelength-selective reflector has a wavelength-selective coating configured to cause incident visible light from the display backlight to be transmitted through the wavelength-selective reflector to the LCD device, and cause incident infrared light reflected from an object on or near an exterior surface of the LCD device to be reflected off of the wavelength-selective reflector and directed to an infrared vision subsystem.

摘要: Techniques are described for space-time-frequency (STF) coding of multi-carrier transmissions over frequency-selective fading channels. In particular, techniques for STF coding of MIMO-OFDM systems are described that provide maximum diversity, high coding gains, and low decoding complexity are described. A set of generally correlated OFDM subcarriers are divided into groups of subcarriers creating a set of group STF (GSTF) subsystems, within which STF coding is applied to each GSTF subsystem. Subcarrier grouping preserves maximum diversity gains and simplifies both the code construction within each GSTF and decoding complexity. ST coding techniques are used in designing STF block (STFB) and STF trellis (STFT) codes which are applied within GSTF subsystems.

摘要: Apparatus and method for attenuating effects of externally generated vibration applied along multiple axes of a disc drive. The disc drive includes a disc with a recording surface, a read/write head and a servo circuit which detects and corrects head position error. The servo circuit determines a plant estimate indicative of transfer function response of the disc drive while the disc drive is operated off-line. A sensor network concurrently generates a plurality of acceleration signals each along a different axis of the disc drive and indicative of a different component of the externally generated vibration applied along the corresponding axis. An adaptive filter network adaptively filters the acceleration signals to generate a compensation signal. The compensation signal is fed forward to the servo circuit to remove the effects of the externally generated vibration.

摘要: Apparatus and method for reducing the generation of acoustic noise in a disc drive. A seek is carried out to move a head from an initial track to a destination track on a corresponding disc surface using a servo circuit which outputs a series of current command values indicative of successive magnitudes of current to be applied to an actuator motor. A velocity profile provides a sequence of demand velocities indicative of the desired velocity as the head is decelerated to the destination track. During the seek, open loop current is applied to the actuator motor to accelerate the head away from the initial track, the current command values defining a rising portion wherein the current is successively increased to a first level and a subsequent falling portion wherein the current is successively decreased to a second level, the rising and falling portions each preferably characterized as a one quarter sine wave at a selected frequency. The head is subsequently decelerated to the destination track by applying current in relation to velocity error determined as the difference between the velocity profile and the actual velocity of the head.

摘要: The present invention provides a method and system for providing improved controls in a graphical user interface. One feature of the present invention provides a control that enables a user to assign multiple values to the control. This multi-value field control includes an extension to known controls that allows the user to enter more than one value into the control. After a value has been entered into the multi-value field control, the user can modify or delete the value. Another feature of the present invention provides a control that enables a user to efficiently specify multiple sort criteria for the control. This sort order control lists all of the possible sort criteria together with a selection indicator next to each sort criteria. When the user selects a sort criteria, the sort order control indicates the selection of the sort criteria in the selection indicator and places a numeric character representing the order in which the sort criteria was selected next to the sort criteria. Another feature of the present invention provides a control that enables a user to manipulate lists in the control. The list operations that can be performed using the list control include: (1) swapping columns, (2) freezing and unfreezing columns, (3) hiding and showing columns, and (4) finding text in columns.

摘要: The present invention is a pet cage having an upper cage member and a lower base member. The lower base member has at least two portions: a fixed portion and one or more adjustable portions that can be extended or collapsed as needed. The fixed portion comprises multiple sidewalls arranged in serial to form an enclosed structure except for an opening on one or more sides, where a lip takes the place of a wall that would otherwise enclose the fixed portion of the fixed portion. One or more adjustable portions are located adjacent, and attached to the one or more sides of the fixed portion of the base member. While in a partially or fully extended state, the adjustable portions have fully open or partially open bottoms that provide access for the pet to reach fresh grass underneath the cage or to conveniently clean bedding material.
