Abstract: A computer implemented method includes receiving text-based clinical documentation corresponding to a patient treated at a healthcare facility, converting the text-based clinical documentation to create a machine compatible converted input having multiple features, providing the converted input to a trained machine learning model that has been trained based on a training set of historical converted clinical documentation by the first entity, receiving a prediction from the trained machine learning model, wherein the prediction corresponds to at least one of a predicted diagnostic related group (DRG) code or a set of predictions comprising a predicted principal diagnosis code for provision to a DRG calculator to determine the DRG code, and assign a priority score at least partially based on the prediction.

Abstract: A computer implemented method includes generating a first interface view showing a first diagnosis for a patient during a patient encounter with a healthcare provider, receiving a first query in response to the first interface view, the query soliciting further specificity with respect to the first diagnosis, making the query available to the healthcare provider, receiving a first response providing further specificity with respect to the first diagnosis, receiving an updated code in response to the first response, storing the code, receiving one or more further updated codes specified by the CDI specialist in response to one or more queries and responses based on further diagnoses, storing the one or more further codes, and generating an incremental query impact summary based on the updated code and one or more further updated codes to illustrate the effect of each stored updated codes in response to queries.

Abstract: A computer system implements a concurrent Clinical Document Improvement (CDI) and coding workflow, such as may be used to generate codesets for use in connection with medical bills. The concurrent workflow enables steps in the coding process to be performed close to admission and concurrently with (e.g., interwoven with) the patient visit and steps in the CDI process, thereby increasing the accuracy of the resulting codesets and the efficiency of the codeset generation process. In particular, this concurrent coding workflow may be used to resolve DRG mismatches and enable codesets to be finalized immediately upon discharge of the patient from the hospital.

Abstract: This disclosure describes systems, devices, and techniques for determining discrepancies in medical information. In one example, a computer-implemented method includes receiving clinical documentation related to a patient encounter, receiving one or more selected codes associated with the patient encounter, and determining, by the computing device, one or more suggested codes associated with the patient encounter and based on clinical documentation. The method may also include determining one or more discrepancies between the one or more selected codes and the one or more suggested codes, responsive to determining the one or more discrepancies, generating, based on the one or more discrepancies, a query that indicates the one or more discrepancies and solicits user input resolving the one or more discrepancies, and outputting the query for display.
