Abstract: A circuit breaker is connected between an input supply line and an output supply line of a low-voltage electrical system and comprises a test signal transceiver and evaluator. The test signal transceiver comprises a first transceiver section being capacitively or inductively coupled, at a first coupling point, with the input supply line, and a second transceiver section being inductively coupled, at a second coupling point, with the input or output supply line. One of the first and second transceiver section is a test signal transmitter configured to generate and inject an AC test signal into the input or output supply line, and the other one of the first and second transceiver section is a test signal receiver configured to receive the test signal from the input or output supply line. A test signal evaluator is configured to determine the state of the circuit breaker from the received test signal.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for detecting a ground fault in a battery of a uninterrupted power supply, the battery includes at least one string with multiple battery cells, the method including the steps of defining multiple individual battery blocks of battery cells along the at least one string, performing an reference impedance measurement for the multiple individual battery blocks at a first point of time, performing a verification impedance measurement for the multiple individual battery blocks at a second point of time, evaluating a change of measured impedance between the reference impedance and the verification impedance for the multiple individual battery blocks of the at least one string, and identifying a ground fault based on a correlated change of measured impedance of the multiple individual battery blocks along the at least one string. The present invention also provides a battery management system for managing a battery of a uninterrupted power supply, which is adapted to perform the above method. The present invention further provides a UPS device and a UPS system, each of which including an above battery management system.

Abstract: An arc fault detection device for detecting an arc fault in an electric line includes a first terminal and a second terminal for connecting the arc fault detection device to a conductor of the electric line. A sensor is adapted for generating a sensor signal from a current through the electric line; and a controller is adapted for detecting the arc fault from the sensor signal. The sensor includes an inductor connected to the first terminal and the second terminal and a capacitor connected in parallel with the inductor. The inductor and the capacitor form a resonant circuit with a resonance frequency, the resonance frequency determining an impedance behavior of the resonant circuit; wherein the inductor and the capacitor are chosen such that the impedance behavior of the resonant circuit corresponds to a desired impedance behavior over a relevant frequency range of the current through the electric line.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for detecting an electrical discharge in an electrical apparatus. The method includes sensing an electromagnetic wave using an electrical sensor and generating an electric signal for a predetermined time period, sensing an acoustic wave using an acoustic sensor and generating an acoustic signal for the predetermined time period. The acoustic sensor is associated with at least one compartment of the electrical apparatus. Electrical data is generated based on a quasi-periodic characteristic of electric peak sequences of the electrical signal. Acoustic data is generated based on a quasi-periodic characteristic of acoustic peak sequences of the acoustic signal, wherein the electrical data is combined with the acoustic data to provide an operation status of the at least one compartment.
