Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus are provided for electrically shielding heated components, and more particularly, to electrically shielding electrically heated components in such a way as to be compatible with GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) protected circuits. Examples include an electrically shielded heated component including: a conductor, where the conductor is a heating element connected between a power line and a neutral line of a circuit from a GFCI; and a shield proximate the conductor and connected to the GFCI, where the shield receives a portion of current from the conductor and returns the portion of the current received to the GFCI.

Abstract: A power supply device includes: a first system; a second system; an inter-system switch configured to be able to connect and disconnect between the first system and the second system; a determining unit configured to keep the inter-system switch in an ON state in a normal time, and turn off the inter-system switch and determine which system a ground fault has occurred in, if detecting a ground fault of the first system or the second system; and a suppression circuit configured to suppress an electric discharge of the second power supply and supply electric power for ground fault detection to the second system, and the determining unit determines whether any ground fault has occurred in the second system or not, based on the electric power which is supplied from the suppression circuit to the second system.

Abstract: Passive monitoring the integrity of current sensing devices and associated circuitry in GFCI and AFCI protective devices is provided. A protection circuit interrupter employs a capacitively coupled noise signal obtained by an arrangement of one or both of line side arms relative to a Rogowski coil. The noise signal is monitored while the line and load sides of a protective circuit interrupter are disconnected, and the connection of the line and load sides disabled if the noise signal fails to correlate sufficiently to a reference noise cycle. When the line and load sides are connected, the RMS value of the observed current signal is monitored such that the line and load sides are disconnected if the observed current signal fails to meet an RMS threshold. The observed current signal is compensated by subtracting the reference noise cycle prior to monitoring for the fault condition applicable to the protective device.

Abstract: A DC to AC inverter for solar energy installations is configured to convert DC input power at a first voltage to a desired AC output power waveform. The inverter includes multilevel circuitry configured to define a plurality of different levels, wherein each level is defined by lower and upper voltage values; a jittering controller configured to jitter between the lower and upper voltage values in each level in order to generate a preliminary AC waveform by producing waveform values between the lower and upper voltage values within each level; and a low pass filter configured to filter the preliminary AC waveform to remove the jittering in order to provide a smooth output AC waveform.
