Abstract: An impression cylinder of a printing press is provided with a rotatable shaft journalled parallel to its axis. The shaft has at least two feelers mounted thereon which are resiliently urged upward out of the cylinder, so as to contact the sheet fed to the cylinder. The shaft and the feelers are provided with cooperating abutment means which cause the feelers to rotate the shaft in one direction. The shaft is provided with lever means at one of its exterior ends which cooperate with the tripping-off control means. The shaft is provided with spring means which rotates the shaft counter to the action of the feeler spring. The feeler spring has a force greater than that of the shaft spring so that in the absence of the effect of a paper sheet, the shaft is rotated to cause the lever means to activate the tripping-off mechanism but to be ineffective when a sheet is properly aligned on the cylinder and properly sensed.

Abstract: Apparatus for mounting an ink roller so that it may be shifted into engagement or disengagement with a form cylinder roller in an offset press. The apparatus comprises a holder for journalling the ink roller on a supporting frame, the holder being mounted so as to be reciprocally movable on said frame along a path radial to the axis of the form cylinder and an ink distributing roller to which it engages. The holder and frame are provided with engaging bearing means. A rod slideably extends through the holder parallel to the radial path of movement and has stop means limiting the relative upward and downward movement of the rod through said holder. Means are provided for reciprocating the rod in response to the selected operation of the machine whereby said holder can be listed and swung to cause the ink roller to engage and disengage selectively with the form cylinder and the ink distributor.

Abstract: Adjustment mechanism for properly gripping paper sheets of different lengths to be transferred for multicolor printing including adjusting means for adjusting the circumferential spacing of cylinder gripping means, particularly on rotary printing machines. On one end of a shaft of a sheet transfer cylinder there is rotatably mounted a gear wheel and on one end of a shaft of a cylinder for turning papers sheets is a first drive gear and a second drive gear which is adjustable relatively to the first drive gear. One drive gear of the turning cylinder is engageable with the drive gear of the sheet transfer cylinder, so that changing of the rotational orientation between the drive gears of the sheet turning cylinder effects a rotation of the gear wheel of the sheet transfer cylinder and a change in the circumferential spacing between the mechanical grippers and the suction gripping elements thereof.
