摘要： An improved machine for printing on sheet material articles with printing plates includes a sheet feed and transport assembly and a plate feed mechanism. The sheet feed and transport assembly includes a conveyor which engages a lowermost edge portion of a sheet material article and moves the article in upright orientation along a horizontal path to a printing station. A removable plate storage drawer holding a series of printing plates is disposed beneath the printing station. The plate feed mechanism removes each printing plate in turn from the drawer and moves it upwardly along a vertical path to an inspection station. The printing plate is then moved downwardly to a printing station where it is utilizeld to print on an upright sheet material article. After the printing operation has been completed, the downward movement of the printing plate is continued and the printing plate is returned to its initial sequential relationship with the other printing plates in the drawer. As the printing plate is being returned to the drawer, the conveyor continues movement of the sheet material article along the horizontal path toward a receiving tray.

摘要： A system is provided which incorporates apparatus for sensing and generating as linear rod positions the amount registered on the indicia wheels of dispensing pumps, a date receiving and storing device adapted to be inserted into the pump for receiving and storing the data from the data generating device as linear positions of slide means, and a data recording device adapted to receive the data receiving and storing device and record the data retained by the receiving and storing device. The linearly positionable rods are coactable with stop means on the surface of the indicia wheels to provide a linear position corresponding to the data on the indicia wheels; the data receiving and storing device includes detented slide means adapted to sense the position of the linearly positionable rods on the generating device and retain said positions are corresponding positions of the slide means; the data recording device includes means to sense the position of the slide means on the data receiving and storing device and print characters corresponding to the position thereof. Preferably the data recording device is adapted to function either independently of or mounted on the pump and in conjunction with the operation of the data generating device.

摘要： An embossing device which utilizes a pair of spaced discs. The discs have fingers. At the ends of the fingers of one disc are punch members and at the ends of the fingers of the other disc are corresponding die members. An actuation mechanism is provided which first moves one disc toward the other to close the fingers against the article to be embossed and then after closure generates embossing force against an anvil. The anvil is mounted on a first reaction bar to contain the reaction forces of embossing therebetween; and a second reaction bar is connected to the first reaction bar to contain the drive reaction forces therebetween. Also an interposer is provided for precise positioning of the punches and dies.

The machine bed is a pivoted gate mounted on the frame for manual closing. A pivoted platen lays substantially in its final closing position. The gate locks closed to the frame, and then a cam drives the platen into pressure engagement with the gate. The cam cycle turns off the drive and unlocks the gate.

摘要： Automatic control of reproduction and sorting of reproduced copies is accomplished in a printing or duplicating machine, a reprography machine, of the type which utilizes masters or originals from which copies are made and which has a hopper, magazine, bunker or chamber for masters, with provision for feeding them in succession to a cylinder associated with inking, duplicating and cleaning mechanisms. Masters are employed which are formed with indicia or coded markings along one or two edges which provide signals for causing a desired number of copies of each successive master to be produced and for sorting the produced copies in a desired manner, for example according to the number of copies to be sent to each of a plurality of different destinations. A scanner is provided for examining the code marks to produce signals, and circuits responsive thereto serve to actuate parts of the duplicating machine. A digital memory device is utilized to store information supplied by the code of one master while reproduction from a previous master is going on.
