    摘要： A selective imprinting machine of the type used for addressing mailed material, utilizing embossed card-sized media of the "credit-card" type having a matrix of perforations sensed for comparison against the master. The master is another perforated card with the perforations on both cards photoelectrically sensed. In one embodiment the cards move along a linear path, and in another they are carried on a rotating drum which also bears the master card. The media are placed on the drum by a rocker arm actuated by a cam driven by the drum, scanned simultaneously with the master for comparison and ejected tangentially from the drum to a receiver. A print signal is produced until inhibited by mismatch between the master and the individual embossed media. The elected media are imprinted against a receiving medium such as an envelope by a print roller, at the periphery of the drum, urged toward the periphery by a cam driven by the drum. The follower linkage for that cam has a movable link moved by an actuator in response to the absence of the print signal to disable the follower linkage. The cards are sensed by phototransistors, and the comparison between the individual card and the master is made by logic circuitry. The master has two hole locations for each hole location on the individual card, one hole location specifying presence of a hole on the individual card, and the other specifying absence of a hole on the individual card. A form is also shown having two receivers for the individual cards and a diverter operated in response to the logic circuitry to divert cards from the first receiver to the second.

    摘要： An apparatus for printing on sheet material articles may be utilized to address envelopes. This involves printing from a plate. The apparatus and method is also useful for scanning from tab cards, labeling, and other such uses. The illustrated embodiment includes an improved assembly for feeding one envelope at a time from a support hopper, sequentially transporting envelopes to a printing station, supporting and registering each envelope in turn at the printing station, and moving the envelopes away from the printing station. The apparatus includes a pair of friction drive rollers which engage an upright side surface of an envelope disposed in the supply hopper. The outer side surface of the envelope is sucked into engagement with the drive rollers. When the drive rollers are rotated, the envelope is advanced toward a flexible separator finger which engages the end of a next adjacent envelope so that only one envelope at a time is removed from the hopper. As the envelope leaves the hopper in an on edge orientation, it moves onto the upper run of a continuously moving conveyor belt. The conveyor belt advances the upright envelope until its leading end portion engages a registration nip which positions the envelope relative to the printing station. The upper run of the conveyor belt supports the envelope while it is printed on at the printing station. The printed envelope is then advanced through the registration nip. To enable the apparatus to be utilized with the envelopes of different sizes, the registration nip and upper run of the conveyor belt may be moved toward and away from the printing station.

    摘要： A transfer-printing process and apparatus for transfer-printing from a master card onto a work piece. The process starts by manual insertion of the master card into a gap provided between press rollers. By the insertion of the master card, the work piece is fed into a work piece path and the surface thereof is wetted during its movement along the path. The work piece thus fed and the master card sustained between the gap are registered with each other as desired and pressed for transfer-printing by the rotation of the press rollers. The work piece and the master card are then delivered to the insertion inlet of the master card.
