Abstract:
A-HYDROXYLAMINOLACTAM CAN BE OXIDIZED TO THE CORRESPONDING A-OXIMINOLACTAM BY CONTACTIN THE A-HYDROXYLAMINOLACTAM, DISSOLVED IN AN INERT SOLVENT, WITH AN OXYGEN-CONTAINING GAS, SUCH AS AIR, IN THE PRESENCE OF AMMONIA OR A VOLTILE AMINE AS A CATALYST. A-OXIMINOLACTAMS ARE USEFUL AS CHELATING AGENTS AND A-OXIMINOCAPROLACTAM IS PARTICULARLY USEFUL AS A PRECURSOR OF LYSINE.
