Abstract: Monoazo compounds of this invention, which may be termed 1-(( 2alkoxy-5-alkyl-4-sulfophenyl) azo)-2-naphthol-6-sulfonic acids and physiologically acceptable salts thereof are used as dyestuffs for various substrates and especially for edible substrates, such as maraschino cherries.
