Abstract:
A steam turbine with a resonance chamber in the outer annulus opposite a rotating blade row. The resonance chamber provides passive resonance to place the excitation at a frequency away from the natural frequency of the blades.
Abstract:
An axial flow turbine is described having a casing defining a flow path for a working fluid therein, a rotor co-axial to the casing, a plurality of stages, each including a stationary row of vanes circumferentially mounted on the casing a rotating row blades, circumferentially mounted on the rotor, with within a stage n vanes have an extension such that at least a part of the trailing edge of each of the n vanes reaches into the annular space defined by the trailing edges of the remaining N-n vanes and the leading edges of rotating blades of the same stage.
Abstract:
Configuration of the last stage of a steam turbine where rotor blades rotate encircled by a vane carrier, such that a plurality of passages are located in the vane carrier, such that a fluid is blown through these passages forming a flow that impinges onto the rotor blades, the number of passages, the location of the passages in the vane carrier and the velocity of the flow impinging onto the rotor blades, being calculated in such a way that rotating flow instabilities in the rotor blades when the steam turbine operates at low volumetric flow conditions are avoided.
