Abstract: The instant invention is an improved cutter head with a salvageable end cap for hollow stem augers. The end cap includes a mechanism for retrieval upon completion of a drilling operation thereby allowing the end cap to include various bit formations so as to assist in the drilling operation. The side wall of the cutter head is modified to include a keyhole slot for maintaining of the end cap in a rigid position to prevent rotational movement.
