摘要： The present invention relates to processes for depolymerizing a polyester of a dicarboxylic acid and for hydrolyzing a diester of terephthalic acid in the presence of a first base and a solvent mixture into a mono-salt of a monoester of the dicarboxylic acid and further comprises the further treatment of said mono-salt product into other useful derivatives, wherein the solvent mixture comprises at least one aprotic solvent and at least one protic solvent; and wherein the aprotic solvent and protic solvent are provided in a volume ratio of from 1:10 to 100:1. In a preferred embodiment, the aprotic solvent is dichloromethane (DCM), acetonitrile (ACN), tetrahydrofuran (THF) or diethyl ether; and the protic solvent is methanol, ethanol, or allyl alcohol; and the base is potassium hydroxide (KOH).
