摘要： An object-based framework for a wireless access network is provided. Several applications of the proposed framework to enable multicasting and RSVP in the wireless access network are also provided. The object-based framework solves the problem of micro-mobility, in which a mobile host can maintain active TCP sessions during handoff. The location transparency and object serialization functions of distributed object technology are used to solve IP mobility issues. A network node adapted to forward a data packet, such as an IP packet, to a mobile host connected to a radio node by performing a remote method invocation with the data packet as an argument

摘要： The invention provides a novel protocol suite for supporting micro-mobility within a radio access network (RAN). The protocol suite and comprises three separate protocols, namely a Mobile Registration Protocol, a Handoff Affected Router Discovery Protocol (HARDP) and a Mobile Location Update Protocol. The Mobile Registration Protocol is used to register mobile terminals within a RAN while the Mobile Location Update Protocol is used to update mobile terminal reachability during a handoff. The HARDP protocol is used at network boot-up time to identify a subset of routers that needs to be updated when a mobile terminal handoff occurs between two neighboring radio access nodes.

摘要： A method and apparatus for bi-directional transfer of information between a corresponding host and a mobile host in a communications network where each user is assigned a unique network address. In accordance with the teaching of the invention, mobility M- and N-proxies are provided for intercepting data incoming from the mobile host and redirecting it to the corresponding host via transitional transmission sessions established by the proxies, such that the migration of the mobile host from one coverage area to another is transparent to the network application running on the mobile host.

摘要： A method of creating/terminating a connection associated with an end-to-end path defined through a communications network. According to the invention, cross-connection download/undownload processes in each intermediate node of the end-to-end path are triggered substantially in parallel. A confirmation message indicative of successful completion of respective download/undownload processes in each intermediate node is subsequently propagated to an end-node of the path.
