摘要： A data sharing method and system between information processing systems which enable an information processing system to share data in an internal disk unit possessed by another information processing system. A disk control unit within the other information processing system having an external disk unit or an external disk unit includes a disk data sharing mechanism for creating a read/write request to the internal or external disk unit from a command equivalent to a read/write request to a data in a conventional disk subsystem. This mechanism emulates a CCW command to access data in the disk unit.

摘要： The present invention provides techniques, including a method and system, for transferring data between computer systems, for example, a mainframe and a Personal Computer (PC), having storage systems of different formats, efficiently. One embodiment provides a method for transferring data from a first system, having a first processor and a first memory, using a first format to a second system, having a second processor and a second memory, using a second format. The method includes a first system receiving data of a first format from a first disk unit; processing the data of the first format into transformed data, where the transformed data is the data transformed into the second format; storing the transformed data in the first memory; and sending the transformed data from the first memory to the second system responsive to a request from the second system.

摘要： An information processing system has first and second information processing apparatuses. The first information processing apparatus has an internal auxiliary storage device. The second information processing apparatus does not include an internal auxiliary storage device. Both information processing apparatuses have a main storage device, communication unit and auxiliary-storage-device control unit. The second information processing apparatus has an emulation mechanism for carrying out CKD-FBA format conversion to a series of CCW commands. Specifically, a command is set to access the internal auxiliary storage device and the emulation mechanism transmits the command set to the first information processing apparatus having the internal auxiliary storage device by way of the communication unit of the second information processing apparatus and a communication path.
