摘要： Estimating bandwidth of a transport connection from higher layers. In an embodiment, the bandwidth is estimated as a function of the window size, the time taken to transfer a transport payload of window size from the sender system to the receiver system, and a conclusion indicating whether the window size is limited by the network or by the resources on the receiver system. All the factors used in the bandwidth computation are determined based on round-trip times of transport payloads of different sizes transferred between the sender system and the receiver system.
