Connectors are formed from insulative, terminal-carrying frames that are open on at least one major surface. The open major surfaces allows rapid insertion of contact terminals and attachment of wires to contact surfaces within the frame. The frame includes wire receiving openings and cavities for positioning wires within the frame. Electrical continuity between the wires and the terminals may be achieved directly or by a circuit substrate that has circuit traces for electrically connecting an attached wire to a connector terminal. High speed cable connectors can be made in an industrially effective manner by such structures.

An electrical connector formed from a plurality of modules, each module having: an insulative housing; a plurality of first contacts at least partially surrounded by said insulative housing; bridges extending between adjacent first contacts; a plurality of second contacts; and a substrate having conductive traces thereon extending between at least some of the first and second contacts. A method of making an electrical connector, including the steps of: providing a plurality of modules and arranging the modules. The module providing step comprises the steps of: providing a terminal frame with a plurality of first contacts and a bridge extending between adjacent first contacts; providing an insulative housing; at least partially surrounding the terminal frame with the insulative housing; providing a plurality of second contacts; providing a substrate with conductive traces thereon; connecting the first and second contacts to the conductive traces on the substrate.

An electrically operable pivoting mechanism (10) for causing a mirror housing (3) of a wing mirror to pivot. The mirror housing can be brought from any position into any other position manually, and can be brought from any position into the normal operational position electrically by means of the mechanism (10). The mechanism (10) has a construction which is simple an an therefor be easily manufactured. The mechanism comprises a plurality of arcuate grooves and corresponding configured projections engaging the grooves for defining the extreme positions of the mirror housing.
