The pliers are structured such that angular displacement of a handle portion of a first plier member is smaller than angular displacement of a jaw portion of the first plier member during an initial movement of the handle portions toward each other for applying the initial grasping force to the workpiece. In addition, the pliers are structured such that angular displacement of the handle portion of the first plier member is larger than angular displacement of the jaw portion of the first plier member to permit augmenting of the initial grasping force applied to the workpiece during a continued movement of the handle portions toward each other.

    摘要: Pliers with self-adjustment capability for applying a grasping force to a workpiece and for augmenting the grasping force applied to the workpiece which include a first plier member, a second plier member, a first pivot, a second pivot and a first biasing spring. The first plier member includes a handle portion, a jaw portion, an intermediate portion, a coupling interconnecting the handle portion of the first plier member to the intermediate portion of the first plier member, and locking device. The second plier member includes a handle portion, a jaw portion, and an intermediate portion disposed therebetween. The first pivot includes a shifting slot portion, a transitional portion, and a positioning slot portion with a generally arcuate portion formed in said intermediate portion of the first plier member. The first pivot also includes at least one pivot member extending into, and movable within, the shifting slot portion, transitional portion, and positioning slot portion. The first pivot permits the jaw portions to converge in response to movement of the handle portions toward each other for self-adjusting the jaws to the workpiece and applying the grasping force. The second pivot is defined by said locking device interacting with the second plier member. The first biasing spring acts in cooperation with the first pivot member for applying the grasping force to the workpiece and with the second pivot for augmenting the grasping force applied to the workpiece.

The transfer device is comprised of a housing and two movable clamping elements that are mounted to the housing.     摘要: A system for monitoring and dispensing medical items includes a plurality of hook registers (10). Each of the hook registers includes sensors (48, 60, 62, 64) sensing the removal or addition of a medical item to the storage location on the hook register. Each hook register has a microprocessor (66) connected to the sensor which stores a count of the items added or removed from the location. The microprocessor also includes location identifying information specifically associated with the particular hook register. The microprocessor is periodically polled by a controller (72) which reads and stores the count and location identifying information from each of the hook registers. The controller information is periodically read by a data terminal (76) which is connected through a local area network (82) to a remote computer (84) having a processor and data store. A user of the data terminal is enabled to specify a patient for whom medical items will be used when the items are removed from the hook registers or other storage locations. In addition, the system also monitors inventories of items and levels of usage by users. The system also monitors and controls the dispense of other medical items from box registers (110) as well as controls the dispense of items from secure storage locations such as electronic lock drawers (96) and medicine dispensers (100).

    摘要: Inventory monitoring apparatus capable of real-time counting of objects added to or subtracted from a location whose inventory is to be monitored. The apparatus includes structure for supporting a plurality of objects and at least one lever adapted to be contacted and displaced by movement of the objects to and from the supporting structure. Movement of the lever in one direction triggers a switch which generates a signal indicating that an object is being added to the support structure. Similarly, opposite movement of the lever triggers another switch which generates a signal indicating that an object is being removed from the support structure. A microprocessor receives and counts the signals generated by the switches to provide a real-time total of the quantity and, if desired, the locations of objects borne by the supporting structure.
