摘要: A method for dynamic pixel mass spectrometric imaging, or dynamic pixel imaging is disclosed. The method includes striking a sample to be scanned with a laser beam so that the laser beam releases analytes from the sample. The laser beam and the sample are then displaced relative to one another so that the laser beam substantially continuously traces a predefined path on the sample to release analytes from the sample along the predefined path. A mass analysis of the released analytes is performed.

摘要: Assessment of one of the sensory nervous systems of a human subject using patterns of null and non-null stimuli. Parts of the visual system for example, are presented with two simultaneous sequences of stimuli. Each sequence is varied over time between a null stimulus and one or more less frequent non-null stimuli. The variation of each sequence is also controlled so that neighboring parts of the sensory system are less likely to receive simultaneous non-null stimuli. The stimuli are therefore sparse both in time and in some other aspect, typically a spatial dimension. One or more responses of the subject are measured and weight functions are determined for assessment of the sensory system.

摘要: A filtration apparatus positionable along the water line intermediate the water well and the surface pump which is drawing the water from the well to the final destination. The apparatus includes a filter, a primary filter housing attachable on its ends along the water line having an out-take and an outflow, the housing containing a primary filter element which includes an exterior filter support screen and an interior filtration element so that water flowing into the housing flows exterior to the filter and is filtered through the filter element into the internal portion of the filter and out the intake line. Any sand or the like material which is collected on the exterior of the filter element is, being heavier than the water flow, flows downward to an exit spout containing a collection chamber connected thereto, so that the sand or the like material falls into the collection chamber and is not maintained on the exterior of the filter element.

摘要: In an instrument used to measure x-rays of the kind in which a wire anode operates in a gaseous atmosphere in a sealed housing to detect x-rays, the instrument is rejuvenated by passing a heating current through the anode to raise its temperature for a period of between two and six hours to convert any impurities to a compound.
