摘要: An expandable, bistable open cell design incorporates the following features: a first relatively stiff portion (152) having first and second ends and a first relatively flexible portion (154) connected to the first and second ends of the first relatively stiff portion, the first relatively stiff portion and the first relatively flexible portion substantially surrounding a first open area (156) of the stent structure; a second relatively stiff portion (158) having first and second ends and a second relatively flexible portion (160) connected to the first and second ends of the first relatively stiff portion, the first relatively stiff portion and the first relatively flexible portion substantially surrounding a second open area (162) of the stent structure; and an opening (1 10) formed through the first relatively stiff portion and the second relatively flexible portion such that the opening connects the first and second open areas, thereby creating first and second intermediate ends (152a, 152b) of the first relatively stiff portion and first and second intermediate ends (160a, 160b) of the second relatively flexible portion. The first intermediate end (152a) of the relatively stiff portion is connected to the first intermediate end (160a) of the relatively flexible portion so as to create a first inward apex (170), the second intermediate end (152b) of the relatively stiff portion is connected to the second intermediate end (160b) of the relatively flexible portion so as to create a second inward apex (172), and the stent structure is configured such that, in a collapsed configuration, the first inward apex (170) is in contact with the second inward apex (172) and, in an expanded configuration, the first inward apex is biased to move in a first circumferential direction and the second inward apex is biased to move in a second circumferential direction that is different than the first circumferential direction.

摘要: Systems consistent with the present invention automatically process data associated with insurance claims to identify insurance claims with subrogation potential. Text from an insurance claim file may be automatically analyzed to extract data that can be quantified to determine whether the claim may have subrogation potential.

摘要: Methods and apparatus are provided for delivering a bioactive agent in a needle track formed in a target tissue mass, following formation of the needle track, by avoiding impingement of the agent against target tissue at high velocity or by using capillary action to draw the bioactive agent out of the needle during needle withdrawal. The apparatus comprises a catheter and a needle disposed within the catheter and configured to be selectively extended into the tissue mass to a predetermined depth, while dispensing the agent simultaneously with retraction of the needle along the needle track. Alternatively, or in addition, the needle may be configured to create a tissue space surrounding a distal or lateral surface of the needle, into which the bioactive agent to be infused.

摘要: An emboli filtration apparatus is provided comprising a guide wire having a filter element captured thereon, so that the guide wire is free to rotate and translate while the filter element remains stationary. The apparatus allows for movement and rotation of the guide wire as devices are advanced over it to treat occlusive disease, substantially without dislodging the filter element. In a preferred embodiment, the guide wire comprises a proximal stop configured to reposition the filter element during a medical procedure without having to remove or insert additional interventional devices.

摘要: A device for the treatment of periodontal disease includes a handle that has a configuration familiar to dental professionals, and a cartridge, that is locked into the handle when use, typically delivery of a composition to a periodontal pocket is desired. The cartridge provides for effective delivery of compositions, such as agents, as its tip is deformable, typically from a circular to an oval shape so as to flatten. The deformation may be made, either manually, by the dental professional, or upon contact with teeth or other tissues, whereby this flattened tip can penetrate deeply into periodontal pockets for quick and direct application of the composition, for example, therapeutic agents.
