An Internet Call-Waiting message is generated when an incoming call is received while having an established connection to a data network. Content is retrieved to accompany the Internet Call-Waiting message. A customer-selected style and a customer-selected location of a control is retrieved that accompanies the Internet Call-Waiting message. The Internet Call-Waiting message is presented to alert of the incoming call.

One method includes providing a selection of content for an Internet Call-Waiting message and allowing a customer/user to select the content of the Internet Call-Waiting message. The customer/user may select graphics, animation, and sound to accompany the Internet Call-Waiting message. Once the content is selected, the customer/user may then associate the content with a telephone number.

    摘要： A method and system are provided for delivering personalized messages to a calling party who calls a called party who is engaged in an Internet session over a telephone line not capable of receiving telephone calls without interrupting the Internet connection. The called party receives a notification on her computer screen of an incoming telephone call from a calling party. A drop box on the called party's computer temporarily interrupts the called party and identifies the calling party. The called party may answer the call, forward the call to a separate telephone number, place the call on hold, send the call to voice mail, or type, select or record a personalized message that is delivered to the calling party without interrupting the Internet session. The personalized message may be a text message or a voice message. Text messages are converted from text to speech before delivery to the calling party. If the calling party'terminates the call attempt prior to hearing the message, the calling party is contacted for delivery of the message. If the calling party is not reached after a number of attempts, the called party is notified on her computer screen, without interrupting her Internet session, that the message to the calling party was not delivered. The called party may request the calling party be placed on hold after hearing the personalized message. At the expiration of the hold time, the called party may terminate the Internet session and automatically connect to the calling party.

    摘要： A system and method enables a caller to detect subscribers to a privacy screening service. The caller detection of privacy screening is initiated when a subscriber to the caller detection of privacy screening service places a telephone call to a called party. After the calling party enters the telephone number of the called party, the caller detection of privacy screening service places a query to an SCP. The SCP determines if the called party is a subscriber to privacy screening. If the called party is a subscriber to privacy screening, the call is not completed, and a message is sent from the SCP to the SSP indicating that this is a caller detection of privacy screening call. This information is forwarded from the SSP to a billing system for processing as a caller detection of privacy screening charge. If the called party is not a subscriber to privacy screening, the call is completed and normal charges accrue.
