    摘要： A system and method enables a caller to detect subscribers to a privacy screening service. The caller detection of privacy screening is initiated when a subscriber to the caller detection of privacy screening service places a telephone call to a called party. After the calling party enters the telephone number of the called party, the caller detection of privacy screening service places a query to an SCP. The SCP determines if the called party is a subscriber to privacy screening. If the called party is a subscriber to privacy screening, the call is not completed, and a message is sent from the SCP to the SSP indicating that this is a caller detection of privacy screening call. This information is forwarded from the SSP to a billing system for processing as a caller detection of privacy screening charge. If the called party is not a subscriber to privacy screening, the call is completed and normal charges accrue.

    摘要： A method and system are provided for locating and retrieving stored computer files that are related to an incoming telephone call directed to a computer user. A called party receives a telephone call while the called party is operating her computer. A computer telephony interface receives caller identification information on the calling party and uses that information to launch a software synchronization program for locating files stored on the called party's computer that are related to the calling party. A dialog box is displayed on the screen of the called party's computer that provides the caller identification on the calling party and provides an icon for displaying a list of stored files related to the incoming caller. The list of files may be automatically presented to the called party, or the called party may retrieve the list of stored files by selection of the icon presented in the dialog box. Selection of one of the stored files by the called party causes an instance of an application program, such as a word processing program responsible for creation and storage of the selected file, to be launched for displaying the selected file.

    摘要： A method and system are provided for allowing caller control of calls directed to a called party where the called party has forwarded incoming calls. A call forwarding control feature is selected at the local telephone switch of the calling party on a call-by-call basis. Alternatively, the call forwarding control feature may be provisioned at the switch for all outgoing calls. After a directory number of a called party is entered, a determination is made as to whether the called party has call forwarding service and whether the called party as activated call forwarding for incoming calls. If the called party has activated a call forwarding service for incoming calls, the caller's switch is instructed to terminate the call attempt. A message may be played to the caller to alert the caller that the call attempt is being terminated. If the called party's calls are not forwarded, the caller's call is connected to the called party. The call forwarding control method and system may be switch-based where the determination as to the call forwarding status of the called party's line is made at the called party's switch. Alternatively, the call forwarding control method and system may be network-based where the determination as to whether the called party's calls are forwarded is performed at a network component such as a service control point that is tasked with forwarding calls directed to the called party.

A call waiting control feature is provisioned at the local telephone switch of the calling party. If the line has an activated call waiting feature and the line is busy, the call attempt is terminated. If the called party's line does not have a call waiting feature, or if the line does have call waiting, but the called party's line is not busy, the call attempt proceeds. If the call attempt is to be terminated, a message may be played to the caller to alert the caller that the called party's line is busy, that a call waiting feature is activated on the called party's line, and that the call attempt is being terminated. The call waiting control method and system may be switch-based where the determinations as to the call waiting status and busy status of the called party's line are made from information from the called party's switch. Alternatively, the call waiting control method and system may be network-based where the determinations as to the call waiting status and busy status of the called party's line are made at a network component such as a service control point.

    摘要： An Internet use profile is created by a parent or guardian of an Internet user via a client-side software application at the user's computer. The use profile is submitted via the Internet to an intelligent network component. The use profile sets the duration for Internet use in general and sets the duration for access to particular Internet sites such as chat rooms, shopping sites, etc. The use profile is stored locally on the user's computer and remotely at the intelligent network component. When the user attempts to log on to the Internet via her Internet service provider, the client-side application verifies that the user computer has not already exceeded allowed Internet connection time in a previous Internet connection. If not, the connection to the Internet is allowed. After the connection is established, an Internet usage monitoring and controlling application at the intelligent network component monitors the time of connection between the user computer and the Internet. Once the allowed time of connection expires, the monitoring and controlling application instructs the client-side application to disconnect the user computer from the Internet service provider. Prior to disconnection from the Internet service provider, the client-side computer requests a password from the user. If the password equals a password included in the Internet use profile, then the user is allowed to continue the Internet connection. Also, the user is allowed to modify the use profile with the entry of a correct password to include adding additional access time.
