    摘要: A method of controlling the simultaneous broadcast of enciphered digital information signals, for example in a radio or television broadcast environment, to a plurality of subscribers provides several levels of enciphering keys. The broadcast digital information signal is in a broadcast common service enciphering key and communication between the transmitter and subscribers may take place in a box key or in a group enciphering key common to a group of subscribers having a common interest in the reception of broadcast signals of a particular type. Each receiver will decipher the broadcast digital information in a specific service key which is common to that broadcast. The service key may be changed at one or more subscribers by communicating the change in the service key to the subscribers by means of the group enciphering key. Further, the group enciphering key may be changed at one or more subscribers or new groups may be formed among subscribers by communicating to the subscribers in one or more group enciphering keys.

    摘要: A system for enciphering information bearing RF signals in digital form utilizes a first key common to all receivers. There are means to change the first key which means include, at the transmitter, means to send individual messages to each receiver, each message being itself enciphered in a second key which is peculiar to only one receiver or small group of receivers and which message includes a change of the first enciphering key. At each receiver there are means responsive to the correct address in a key change message which will thereafter permit the deciphering of the key change message in the key peculiar to the particular receiver or small group of receivers. The new first key is then used at the receiver to decipher subsequent information bearing messages.

    摘要: A method and a system for authenticating an electronic financial transaction conducted between a user owning a terminal and a third party via two-way transmissions between the terminal and a cable distribution hub which includes a validation server. The method comprises the following: (a) extracting a first identification attribute of the terminal from a first transmission message sent from the terminal to the cable distribution hub, which corresponds to a first set of user identifiers residing in a database accessible by the validation server; (b) extracting a second identification attribute of the terminal from a second transmission message sent from the terminal to the cable distribution hub, which corresponds to a second set of user identifiers residing in the database accessible by the validation server; (c) comparing the first and second sets of user identifiers to validate the identity of the user; (d) interrupting the electronic financial transaction if there is a discrepancy between the two sets of user identifiers; and (e) allowing the electronic financial transaction to proceed if there is no discrepancy between the two sets of user identifiers.

    摘要: An automatic sharpness control circuit for a color television receiver, wherein a filter having a variable filtering characteristic establishes the peaking of the frequencies forming the video signal, includes a varactor diode as the control element for the variable characteristic filter. The automatic gain control signal establishes the bias condition of the varactor diode so that the extent of peaking in the frequencies forming the video signal is automatically reduced as the strength of the video signal decreases. Accordingly, a balancing effect is created between desirable picture sharpness and the degrading effect of accentuated picture noise.
