Abstract: A user equipment (UE) device may reside in a state of dual connectivity with a master cell group (MCG) and a secondary cell group (SCG), wherein the radio access technologies of the MCG and the SCG are different. While in the dual connectivity state, the UE device may transition to a mode of reduced activity (e.g., processing and/or RF activity) relative to the secondary cell group (SCG) in order to save power, e.g., when traffic flow via the SCG is below a threshold, or when scheduling activity on the SCG is low. Various mechanisms may be employed to reduce activity, e.g., mechanisms such as reduction of beam monitoring, deactivation of secondary cells of the SCG, reduction of number of active antenna elements, employment of longer periods for periodic measurement and reporting processes, etc.

Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments for reducing likelihood of selecting a cell identified by a Radio Access Network (RAN) Notification Area ID (RNA ID) that is different from that identifying a last or current serving cell so as to avoid an RNA update procedure; reducing Random Access Channel (RACH) transmissions for an RNA update procedure and a mobile originated (MO) data transmission in response to a Radio Resource Control (RRC) triggered RNA update procedure; and selecting a band or beam in a multi-band/beam cellular system that improves RACH efficiency.

Abstract: Systems and methods for extending connectivity with a cellular network are disclosed herein. A UE may monitor a serving cell of the UE and a neighbor cell of the UE to determine whether there is a network condition wherein the UE is to transition to an out-of-service (OOS) state if it were to fall to an Radio Resource Control (RRC) Idle state. The UE may react by, before expiration of an inactivity period corresponding to a transition to an RRC Idle mode, initiating signaling activity with a radio access network (RAN) node of the serving cell. In other embodiments, the UE may determine, based on a number of secondary devices connected to the UE, to initiate signaling with the RAN node of the serving cell before expiration of an inactivity period and according to whether a maximum number of extensions of an extension activity period has been reached.

Abstract: A device, system and method for a user equipment (UE) to opportunistically utilize the wireless capabilities of a paired device. The UE is configured to establish a first cellular network connection based on a first subscription, a second cellular network connection based on a second subscription and a connection to a further UE based on a short-range communication protocol. The UE identifies a predetermined condition and transmits an indication to the further UE based on the predetermined condition. The further UE establishes a further cellular network connection in response to the indication and the further cellular network connection is based on one of the first subscription or the second subscription. The UE then declares no service for one of the first cellular network connection or the second cellular network connection based on the further cellular network connection.

The wireless device may further determine support capabilities of the wireless device and perform computations using additional measurements of the antenna ports. Based on the computations, the wireless device may assign the preferred antenna ports to the PCCs and SCCs and perform uplink transmission using the assigned antenna ports.

Abstract: The present application relates to improving a roaming service. In an example, user equipment (UE) initiates a cell selection process to choose between a first cell and a second cell. The UE evaluates a first uplink (UL) channel condition of the first cell and a second UL channel condition of the second cell based on the initiation. The UE selects the first cell or the second cell based on the evaluated first UL channel condition and second UL channel condition.
