摘要： The magnetic head actuator includes a substantially totally enclosed self-shielding voice coil linear motor which includes a continuous, cylindrical permanent magnet of flexible material which is sealed against the inner cylindrical wall of the outer core by a flared copper sleeve that also serves as a non-magnetic, conductive shorted turn to reduce instantaneous inductance of the drive coil. An annular reluctance gap in the outer core provides symmetrical distribution of the permanent magnet flux.

摘要： A mechanical lock which serves to hold a transducer carriage in a fixed position at all times except when the storage disk is rotating at a speed sufficient to ensure that the transducers are flying at a height sufficient to avoid damage to the disk surface. The lock is disengaged by means of a solenoid and armature.
