Abstract: IN WHICH A is o-phenylene, o-naphthylene or peri-naphthylene which may bear substituents which do not impart solubility in water; X is chloro or bromo; and Y is halogen, phenoxy alkyl or alkoxy of one to four carbon atoms. These dioxazine dyes are pigments and give violet colorations for example in surface coatings or plastics; they have excellent fastness to light, weathering and solvents. The dyes are also stable to high temperature.
