Abstract: The presently claimed invention relates to urea urethane compounds obtainable by reacting toluene diisocyanate with a mixture of monohydroxy alcohols followed by reaction with a diamine. The presently claimed invention provides a process for preparing the urea urethane compounds, liquid compositions comprising the urea urethane compounds and the use of the urea urethane compounds as a thickening and thixotropic agent for water based and solvent based paint and coating formulations, lacquer, varnish, paper coating, wood coating, adhesive, ink, cosmetic formulation, detergent formulation, textile and drilling muds plaster formulations, PVC plastisol and cement formulations.
