Abstract: The embodiments of the present disclosure provide a carbide-free tempered martensitic steel and a preparation method thereof. The carbide-free tempered martensitic steel includes a martensite matrix without carbide and a retained austenite distributed between the martensite matrix obtained after tempering or partitioning. A size of retained austenite is submicron or nanoscale, a morphology of retained austenite includes at least one of sphere, block, or film, and a volume fraction of the retained austenite is in a range of 10%-40%.
