Abstract: An open audio device includes an acoustic radiator that emits front-side acoustic radiation from its front side and emits rear-side acoustic radiation from its rear side, a front acoustic cavity that receives front-side acoustic radiation, and a rear acoustic cavity that receives rear-side acoustic radiation. At least one sound-emitting opening is acoustically coupled to the front acoustic cavity or the second acoustic cavity. The open audio device also includes a removable accessory that includes an acoustic transmission line that is acoustically coupled to the at least one sound-emitting opening when the removable accessory is attached to the open audio device.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for automatically adjusting, by an audio device, the SPL of its audio output. As described herein, the SPL is adjusted based on detected ambient noise. According to aspects, audio device iteratively adjusts the SPL based on the ambient noise. According to aspects, the SPL is adjusted to be greater than the ambient noise by a threshold SPL amount. According to aspects, the audio device outputs sound in substantially a first direction and the microphone detects sound substantially outside of the first direction. The adjusted sounds are output by the audio device.

Abstract: An acoustic device with a housing with a central portion and first and second leg portions that depend from the central portion, a first acoustic driver carried by the first leg portion, a second acoustic driver carried by the second leg portion, and an audio signal control system that directs audio signals to each of the first and second drivers, where the drivers transduce the audio signals to output sounds. The audio signal control system is arranged to apply first and second equalization modes to the audio signals in a first and second listening mode, respectively. The second equalization de-emphasizes frequencies below a first threshold frequency and boosts frequencies above the first threshold frequency.
