Abstract: An electric musical instrument includes a body having a front side and a rear side, a plurality of strings extending across at least a portion of the front side of the body, and at least one electric pickup to detect vibrations of the strings and generate a pickup signal. The instrument includes at least one speaker mounted at the rear side of the body, in which the speaker includes an acoustic driver and an acoustic deflector. The acoustic deflector is configured to receive acoustic energy propagating from the acoustic driver and deflect at least a portion of the acoustic energy. The instrument includes an amplifier to amplify the pickup signal to generate an amplified pickup signal, and drive the at least one speaker based on the amplified pickup signal.

Abstract: An acoustic device includes first and second acoustic cavities which are air tight. A first passive radiator includes a first passive radiator diaphragm that has a rear surface which is exposed to the first acoustic cavity. A second passive radiator includes a first passive radiator diaphragm having a front surface which is exposed to the first acoustic cavity, and a rear surface which is exposed to the second acoustic cavity. A first electro-acoustic transducer is supported on the second passive radiator diaphragm. The first electro-acoustic transducer is arranged such that a first radiating surface of the first electro-acoustic transducer radiates acoustic energy into the first acoustic chamber and a second radiating surface of the first electro-acoustic transducer radiates acoustic energy into the second acoustic chamber.

Abstract: An electric musical instrument includes a body and a resonant stack. The resonant stack includes a bridge having a bridge mass and at least a first spring having a first spring constant, in which the first spring is positioned between the bridge and the body. The resonant stack has at least one resonant frequency that is dependent on the bridge mass and the first spring constant. The electric musical instrument includes a plurality of strings that extend across at least a portion of the body, in which each string has a vibrating length defined at least in part by the bridge. The electric musical instrument includes at least a first pickup device to detect vibrations of the strings and generate a first pickup signal, and at least a second pickup device to detect movements of the bridge and generate a second pickup signal.

Abstract: An acoustic device includes an enclosure defining an internal cavity. A first passive radiator arrangement including a first passive radiator diaphragm is arranged along a first side of the internal cavity and a second passive radiator diaphragm arranged along a second, opposite side. The first passive radiator arrangement is mounted such that the first passive radiator diaphragm and the second passive radiator diaphragm can vibrate relative to the enclosure, and the first and second passive radiator diaphragms are coupled together such that there is substantially no relative movement therebetween. A second passive radiator arrangement includes a third passive radiator diaphragm. The second passive radiator arrangement is mounted such that the third passive radiator diaphragm can vibrate relative to the enclosure. An active electro-acoustic transducer arranged to radiate acoustic energy into the internal cavity and thereby excite vibration of the first, second, and third passive radiator diaphragms.

Abstract: An acoustic device with a housing with a central portion and first and second leg portions that depend from the central portion, a first acoustic driver carried by the first leg portion, a second acoustic driver carried by the second leg portion, and an audio signal control system that directs audio signals to each of the first and second drivers, where the drivers transduce the audio signals to output sounds. The audio signal control system is arranged to apply first and second equalization modes to the audio signals in a first and second listening mode, respectively. The second equalization de-emphasizes frequencies below a first threshold frequency and boosts frequencies above the first threshold frequency.
