Abstract: A tissue removal device may include a handle. The device may include a sheath coupled to the handle. A first portion of the sheath may be within the handle. A second portion of the sheath may protrude from the handle. The sheath may include a passage. The device may include an end effector coupled to an end of the sheath. The device may include a drive member coupled to the handle and to the end effector. The drive member may extend through the passage of the sheath to the end effector. Actuation of the handle may move the end effector between an open state, for receiving material, and a closed state, for holding onto material, by causing relative movement between the drive member and the sheath. Further actuation of the handle may move the end effector relative to the handle while the end effector remains in the closed state.

Abstract: A handle assembly includes a drive wire coupled to an expandable end effector, the wire having a diameter of no more than 3 French and a handle cannula receiving the wire therethrough, rotation of the handle cannula transferring torque to rotate the wire. The assembly also includes a shaft receiving the handle cannula, rotation of the shaft transferring torque to rotate the handle cannula. The assembly further includes an actuation assembly receiving the shaft, the actuation assembly coupled to a sheath sized to receive the wire and end effector therethrough, the actuation assembly moveable between a proximal configuration in which the sheath is moved proximally to expand the end effector and a distal configuration in which the sheath is moved distally to retract the end effector, the actuation assembly including a rotation mechanism transferring torque to the shaft to rotate the shaft.

Abstract: An optical device including an optical fiber having a longitudinal axis and an optical fiber core with a distal end having a distal terminating end configured to discharge a first laser energy in a first direction and a second laser energy in a second direction. The optical device also includes a fiber cap having an interior cavity and an opening to the interior cavity, where the distal end of the optical fiber core is received within the interior cavity through the opening. A cladding is included on the distal end of the optical fiber core between the optical fiber core and the fiber cap.

Abstract: A fluid management system includes a pump configured to pump fluid through the system at a fluid flow rate. The system includes a processor including a user interface, the user interface allowing a user to input a set of system operating parameters, the processor being configured to control the pump to maintain a target fluid flow rate based on the set of system operating parameters. The system further includes a scope device coupled to the pump to deliver fluid to a target surgical site, the scope device including an elongated shaft extending from a distal end thereof, the elongated shaft including at least one sensor, the sensor transmitting sensor data relating to target surgical site to the processor. The processor automatically signals to the pump to adjust the fluid flow rate based on the sensor data.

Abstract: Aspects of access devices and methods are disclosed. One aspect of this disclosure is a device. The device may comprise: a needle guide body extending along a central axis between a distal end and a proximal end, a needle guide lumen extending through the distal and proximal ends of the needle guide body along the central axis, and a base monolithically attached to the needle guide body to define a non-variable patient-specific insertion path. Additional devices and methods are disclosed.
