Abstract: A catheter system comprising a guidewire and a support catheter is disclosed. The support catheter may comprise an elongate shaft having a proximal region, a distal region, and a lumen extending therebetween. The support catheter may further comprise a helical section extending distally from the distal region of the elongate shaft. The helical section may comprise a tubular member wound into a plurality of rings a lumen in communication with the lumen of the elongate shaft. The plurality of rings may each have an outer diameter. A minimum diameter of each of the outer diameters may be greater than an outer diameter of the elongate shaft.
