Abstract: An access and delivery device and system configured to facilitate access and delivery of an implantable device to a deployment site. The system includes a tissue-penetrating element and an access and delivery device with an anchor member configured to flex outwardly transverse to the tissue-penetrating element. The system may pass through a proximal non-adherent anatomical structure to a deployment site in a distal non-adherent anatomical structure. The anchor member may be used to maintain the relative positions of the non-adherent anatomical structures and/or to protect the deployment site from a tissue-penetrating end of an implantable device delivery and deployment system. The tissue-penetrating element may have a soft distal tip configured to engage tissue walls atraumatically, such as to protect a tissue wall from a sharp tissue-penetrating end of the tissue-penetrating element.

The inflatable member may have a first inflated volume and a second inflated volume larger than the first inflated volume. The elongate member may include a fluid lumen extending therealong. The fluid lumen may be in fluid communication with the inflatable member and may be configured to pulsate the inflatable member between the first inflated volume and the second inflated volume.

Abstract: An implantable device configured to withstand forces imparted thereto by anatomical structure at a deployment site. The implantable device includes an outer portion and inner portion. The outer portion is positioned between the inner portion and the walls of the anatomical deployment site. The outer portion may enclose the inner portion. The outer portion may be a compliant balloon compressible in response to radially-inwardly directed anatomical forces exerted thereon. The inner portion may include one or more portions configured to retain the implantable device at the deployment site and to resist migration of the implantable device. The inner portion may be movable with respect to the outer portion. The inner portion may include more than one portions, such portions being movable with respect to each other. A shaft may extend through the device, such as to facilitate inflation of the outer portion and/or positioning of the inner portion.

Abstract: An implantable device having an adjustable passage therethrough. The passage may be adjustable to occlude or otherwise to regulate access or flow of materials therethrough. An elongated element may be inserted into the passage when in a closed configuration to selectively open the passage. For instance, the implantable device may be a tubular device with a twisted region closing the passage therethrough, and the elongated device may be configured to engage such twisted region and to be rotated to untwist the closed region. An additional tubular device with a passage therethrough may be inserted into the passage of the implantable device to hold open the passage for a selected period of time.

Abstract: A medical device may comprise a handle and a flexible sheath extending from the handle. The sheath may include a first chamber configured to receive a first agent and a second chamber configured to receive a second agent. Each of the first chamber and the second chamber may be disposed in a distal portion of the sheath. The sheath may also include a first piston received within the first chamber and a second piston received within the second chamber and at least one actuation element configured to transmit a force from the handle to each of the first piston and the second piston. When the handle is in a first configuration, the first agent may be maintained within the first chamber and the second agent is maintained within the second chamber. When the handle is in a second configuration, the first agent may be released from the first chamber to mix with the second agent.

Abstract: An access needle includes a hollow shaft having a lumen sized and shaped to slidably receive a guidewire therein and having a distal end including an angled surface extending proximally and transversely from a sharpened distal-most tip of the shaft to a beveled smoothed area of the shaft proximal and transverse to the sharpened tip. The beveled smoothed area is positioned to slidably engage a guidewire extended distally out the distal end of the needle so that, as the guidewire is retracted proximally into the needle, the beveled smoothed area slidably engages the guidewire to minimize abrasion to the guidewire.
