Abstract: According to the present invention, one or more image pairs, each consisting of a fluoroscopic image and an angiographic image taken from the same position and the same viewing direction onto the patient and each being a non-stitched image, are acquired. A live fluoroscopic image is registered individually with the fluoroscopic image within the at least one of the one or more image pairs, such that the spatial relationship between the live fluoroscopic image and the at least one fluoroscopic image, and thus with the one or more angiographic images and the one or more image pairs in general, becomes known. Angiographic information representing the vascular structure can then be taken from those parts of the angiographic images within the one or more image pairs which overlap with the live fluoroscopic image and be overlayed over the live fluoroscopic image.

Abstract: The disclosed computer-implemented method of detecting at least one foreign object in one or more intraoperative images encompasses the provision and use of one or more intraoperative images, which are compared to expected image content. This also includes particularly the use of live intraoperative video data that are acquired and used in the computer-implemented method defined herein. The method further encompasses the creation, i.e. the calculation and or provision, of expected image content based on several different inputs. Such creation of expected image content can be based on e.g. data associated with the patient's body undergoing a medical procedure, parameters that are indicative of said medical procedure, and/or imaging parameters of the individual imaging device used to generate said one or more intraoperative images. In a further step, a comparison between the expected image content and the one or more acquired intraoperative images is conducted, preferably using an image and/or video analysis algorithm for analyzing the at least one acquired intraoperative image and for automatically detecting the at least one foreign object in the intraoperative image.

The method allows the surface geometry acquisition of a subject to be improved. Abstract: Disclosed is a computer-implemented method of determining an entry region for inserting elongated medical instruments such as trocars or laparoscopes into an anatomical body part such as the abdomen. The determination is made on the basis of a patient image and a known or assumed geometry of the medical instruments and a known position of the target region, and risk structures which shall be avoided by the medical instrument are determined either by user interaction from the patient image or automatically by matching the patient image with an atlas defining the position of such risk structures in an image-based model of the anatomical body part. On the basis of the position of the determined entry region, a robotic device may be controlled to attain a position which is suitable for automatic insertion of the medical instruments into the anatomical body part.
