摘要: A printing apparatus prints by discharging ink to a transfer member from a first printhead, discharging a transfer accelerator to the ink from a second printhead, and transferring an image formed on the transfer member to a print medium. When inspecting a discharge state of each of plural nozzles provided in each of the first and second printheads, the apparatus controls the second printhead so as to discharge the transfer accelerator from at least one nozzle of the second printhead to a discharge area of the transfer member to which the ink is discharged by the first printhead for inspection of the discharge states of the plural nozzles of the first printhead, while inspecting a discharge state of a nozzle different from the at least one nozzle of the second printhead by discharging the transfer accelerator from the nozzle.

摘要: A process of detecting a defective recording element and a process of correcting the defective recording element are performed with appropriate processing loads. When the detection process and the correction processes are performed with small loads, for example, at a time of recording, a resolution used for reading an inspection pattern is set lower than that set in a case where the processes can be performed with small loads, for example, at down time before recording. The reading resolution to be set may be determined by an apparatus in accordance with a processing load or may be arbitrarily determined by a user.

摘要: One aspect of this invention is directed to suitable drive control in accordance with an output from the temperature sensor of a printhead. More specifically, a printing apparatus by using a printhead that includes heaters and a temperature sensor on a substrate and discharges ink by driving the heaters executes the following steps. First, when printing a test pattern by using a predetermined driving pulse in a maintenance mode, a detected temperature is stored as a reference temperature in a memory. Then, in a normal printing mode, the difference between a detected temperature and the stored reference temperature is calculated, and a driving pulse for driving the printhead is selected from a plurality of driving pulses based on the difference. The printhead is controlled to be driven using the selected driving pulse and print.

摘要: A printing apparatus includes a printing unit configured to print an image on a print medium, an acquiring unit configured to acquire temperature information of the printing unit, and a control unit configured to control the printing unit so as to start relative scanning in a case where a temperature that is indicated by the temperature information has reached a print permission temperature. The print permission temperature in a first print mode whose speed at a time of a constant speed in relative scanning is a first speed is a first temperature. The print permission temperature in a second print mode whose speed at the time of the constant speed is a second speed that is faster than the first speed is a second temperature that is lower than the first temperature.

摘要: An inkjet printing apparatus adopting short pulse heating is designed to output a uniform image without unevenness. To this end, in a serial inkjet printing apparatus, a print head is subjected to a short pulse heating treatment before each print scan is carried out. In a case where a print medium is a first print medium, the print head is heated to a first target temperature before carrying out each of the print scans. In a case where the print medium is a second print medium, the print head is heated to a second target temperature lower than the first target temperature before carrying out each of the print scans.

摘要: A printing apparatus for printing using a printhead including a plurality of nozzles each configured to discharge ink and a plurality of sensors, corresponding to the plurality of nozzles, for detecting a discharge state of ink from the plurality of nozzles, judges a discharge state. More specifically, the apparatus prints, based on print data, an image by driving the printhead under a first drive condition to discharge the ink from the printhead to a first area, discharges ink to a second area different from the first area by driving the printhead, based on inspection data, under a second drive condition different from the first drive condition, and judges a discharge state of each nozzle by monitoring an output from each sensor at a timing of driving the printhead under the second drive condition.

摘要: Priority order is updated so that an ejection port that is selected as an ejection port subjected to ejection failure determination in a pixel row in which a previous ejection operation is to be performed has the lowest priority order, which is used for selecting an ejection port subjected to ejection failure determination, in a pixel row in which a subsequent ejection operation is to be performed.
