A commodity registration device according to the present invention includes: a photographing unit that photographs an object as an image; a voice input unit that receives a voice; and a control unit that recognizes a commodity by using, as auxiliary information to recognize the object as a commodity, the voice received from the voice input unit during a predetermined period before and after timing including the timing of detecting that the object is photographed by the photographing unit as the image.

A shopping memo which is easy to dairy use can be prepared in a simple manner. A smart phone is provided with a shopping-memo preparing unit and an indication processing unit. The shopping-memo preparing unit registers commodity information on an electronic receipt to a shopping list in response to user's operation to prepare shopping-memo data. The indication processing unit displays an electronic receipt in such a manner that allows a user to clearly discriminate whether or not each piece of commodity information has been registered to a shopping list of the shopping-memo data prepared in the past by the shopping-memo preparing unit.

To enable registration of a commodity without interrupting the flow of sales registration by an operator, a commodity identification device 2 specifically includes: a camera 27 that takes an image of an object that an operator holds over the camera; and a CPU 211 that is configured to, when the object is recognized from an image taken by the camera 27 and the object recognized is compared with reference images of each commodity in plurality of directions, and when the object is similar to a plurality of commodities, specify reference images having a noticeable difference, and guide the operator to rotate the object so that the object in the direction corresponding to the specified reference images is directed toward the camera 27.
