Abstract: A torque rise limiting device, for an internal combustion engine having a speed responsive governor adapted normally to urge a fuel control member toward an increased fuel position when the load on the engine is increased, is responsive to a conditional change of the governor when the speed of the engine decreases below a predetermined speed due to a load imposed thereon automatically to move the fuel control member toward a decreased fuel position so that the volume of fuel directed to the engine is reduced for minimizing noxious exhaust emissions therefrom.

Abstract: A horsepower limiter and overfueling control mechanism for an internal combustion engine having a fuel pump with a fuel control device operatively associated therewith for regulating the horsepower output of the engine which includes a movable member having a first position disposed in non-interfering relation with the operation of the fuel control device permitting it to move to an overfueling position for starting the engine and a second position restricting the range of operation of the fuel control device to limit the maximum horsepower output of the engine. An adjustment device is operatively associated with the movable member for selectively varying the range of operation of the fuel control device while permitting the movable member freely to move between its first and second positions in all settings of the adjustment device for attaining said horsepower limiting and overfueling functions with a single control.

Abstract: A MANUALLY ACTUATED FUEL PRIMING PUMP FOR AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE COMPRISES A ONE-PIECE HOUSING HAVING A BARREL TERMINATING AT ITS LOWER END IN A FLANGE DISPOSED TRANSVERSELY TO THE BARREL. A PLUNGER IS RECIPROCALLY MOUNTED IN A CHAMBER OF THE BARREL TO SELECTIVELY PUMP FUEL FROM A FIRST TO A SECOND VALVE LOCATED IN HE FLANGE OF THE HOUSING. THE PLUNGER HAS AN ANNULAR GROOVE FORMED THEREAROUND WHICH SEATS AN ANNULAR RING OF LOW FRICTION MATERIAL THEREIN. AN O-RING SEAL IS ALSO DISPOSED IN THE GROOVE TO URGE THE ANNULAR RING INTO INTIMATE CONTACT WITH WALL PORTIONS DEFINING THE CHAMBER.
