Abstract:
A method of providing an apertured gasket support with a ring of sealing material encircling said aperture, using a pair of mold parts, each of which has an annular recess in one face thereof connected to a sealing material reservoir, the inner diameter of the recess being greater than that of the aperture, according to which one mold part is positioned on each side of said gasket support with the recesses and aperture aligned and the inner edge of each recess spaced from the edge of the aperture and injecting liquid sealing material into both recesses, while simultaneously clamping the gasket support between the mold parts.
Abstract:
Method of forming gaskets by projecting a layer comprising 7090% of a fibrous material and 10-30% of a settable binder onto a supporting sheet, causing the binder to set, and there compressing the layer. An adhesive may be used to secure the layer to the sheet, or the sheet may be treated to prevent adhesion of the layer and removed after the compression step.
