Abstract: A hot top securing system for securing preformed sideboards within an ingot mold. The securing system employs end adjacent side boards having grooves therein which form downwardly convergent wedge receiving grooves at each corner of the mold. Each groove comprises a protective liner secured to the sideboard and so formed and oriented that the required downward convergency results. Wedge means, preferably U-shaped spring rods, are inserted base side down between pairs of grooves at each corner to provide the required securing force.
