摘要: The invention concerns a system for monitoring, characterising and evaluating a user's cough comprising a sensory instrumentation unit (2), including at least one abdominal contraction sensor (3) and at least one acoustic sensor (4), wherein the acoustic sensor (4) is triggered only when abdominal contractions are detected; a microcontroller (1); at least one data flow unit; and a data processing and analysis unit for cough assessment (5).
The invention solves the problem of under-assessment of cough in medical practice, allowing to objective analyse the cough, contributing to the medical diagnosis by establishing parameterized cough patterns, involving the frequency, type of cough, the user's body position and other data regarding events which potentially cause cough. The invention also protects the user's privacy, as acoustic sensory data are only recorded when there are abdominal contraction events.
