Abstract:
A METALLIC BATH IS REFINED BY BLOWING OXYGEN INTO THE BATH BY SUBMERGED BLAST PIPES. A PRIMARY JET IS CENTERED IN EACH BLAST PIPE FOR A GAS CONTAINING DROPLETS IN SUSPEN: SION TO REDUCE OR SUPPRESS METALLIC OXIDE FUMES OTHERWISE PRODUCED IN THE BATH BY THE OXYGEN.
Abstract:
A METHOD FOR COOLING THE TIP OF A TUYERE USED FOR INTRODUCING AN OXIDIZING GAS INTO A MOLTEN METAL BATH OF A BOTTOM-BLOWN REFINING CONVERTER. THE METHOD COMPRISES INJECTING A COOLING AGENT INTO THE CONVERTER PERIPHERALLY OF THE TUYERE, WHERE THE COOLING AGENT IS A LIQUID UP TO THE TIP OF THE TUYERE.
Abstract:
Means for cooling a tuyere of a refining converter having two separate feed systems, which comprises an axial circuit for the oxidizing gas and a peripheral circuit for the cooling agent, wherein a cooling liquid, such as water under pressure, carbon dioxide in the liquid state or a hydrocarbon-containing liquid is injected into the peripheral circuit in lieu of a cooling gas.
Abstract:
An alloy steel containing chromium is refined by blowing fluids into the molten steel through double or triple feed tuyeres. Each tuyere first provides a flow of an oxidizing fluid, a second flow of a fluid for diluting the carbon monoxide in the bath and a third peripheral flow of a carbon make-up liquid.
Abstract:
A process of protecting a tuyere of a refining converter having a double or multiple feed of which one, which may be the central feed, is pure oxygen, the process comprising feeding preferably a peripheral conduit with a viscous, a pasty, or powdery and compressed material containing carbon to protect the nose of the tuyere against wear by hot corrosion.
