Abstract: Horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT) systems are described that include a turbine with deflector in front of the turbine in order to change flow encountered by the turbine's blades. Such an arrangement improves turbine efficiency and may be embodied in a range of size scales for numerous wind (or water) power generation applications.
